Learning Log 12

This week I learnt about how to create rollover caption and rollover image in my CALL. It was about the text we point mouse and it would appear image that related to the text or the image that appear vocabulary, sentence, and voice when we point mouse. Moreover, I’ve learnt about how to add games such as word search, or memory game into my CALL. In addition, I've learnt about how to add audio when we point mouse around words, sentences, or photos. All of these make students understand the lesson and to enjoy learning.

This week teacher taught me how to create a test by Adobe Captivate 8. There are many types of tests such as such as, multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and matching. After that, I can apply to create and use them in my project. It is very useful for me in education.

This week I learnt about the research Computer Assisted Language Learning and English Language Teaching in Thailand: Overview. I learnt Studies on CALL in the Thai Context. It was found that the students had positive attitudes towards using the computer program as it helped them improve their listening and speaking skills. Also, I've learnt about how to use program Adobe Captivate Teacher taught me to create Adobe Captivate First, I create the blank project and size 1048*768. Then, teacher taught me to create register, welcome, and menu, etc. Finally, I learnt how to make the test in this program and link flame into another flame when we click and I could add picture, audio, or video into my CALL.

    This week, I learnt about the research Computer Assisted Language Learning and English Language Teaching in Thailand. It's about applying CALL in Thailand. The purposes of CALL want to development skills of students. The research show about advantages and disadvantages of applying CALL to the success of the language learning from researcher. The purposes of CALL are improving and development skills of students. Also, I learnt how to use Captivate 8 program for use this program to create CALL.

This week, I've learnt about Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). CALL mean "the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning" and I learnt about the different between CALL and CAI that CALL to teach every subject  English but CAT to teach only language. Moreover, I learned about types of CAI. It was seven types. 
1. Tutorial instruction is the program that gave the content to students in text, picture, audio, and all of them. 
2. Drills and practice is the program that had only questions or problems to the students to solve them.
3. Simulation is the program that simulate situation from the truth to practice skills to the students.
4. Instructional games is the program that encourage students to learn the lesson.
5. Discovery is the program that wanted students learned from their experience.
6. Problem-solving is the program that wanted students to think and decide to do something.
7. Tests is the method that test the student's abilities.

Finally, My group presented about advantages of CAI.

This week, teacher taught me about the false friend words. I learnt Thai people used from English in different meaning such as "smart" in English means clever but in Thai means about handsome ,“Sexy” in English means good looking and nice body. but “ Sexy” in Thai means to dress provocatively. I learnt about applying innovative spirit multimedia foreign language teaching. It made me know such as problems and solutions related to multimedia teaching.

This week, My teacher taught me about Antconc program.  I learnt about how to use AntConc. First, teacher taught me searched some words that I interested in and saved my information into notepad. When, I used  Antconc program, I open files from notepad and click word list it showed me many words. Then, I looked about the concordances and the frequency of words. After that, I looked for Local grammar Style and Content knowledge. In addition, teacher taught me to use English-Thai parallel corpora from http://www.arts.chula.ac.th/~ling/ParaConc/ teacher gave some examples the English words that have many different meaning in Thai meaning such as, friend, smart and teacher.

This week, I learnt about meaning of corpus. It was a collection of words. Next ,teacher taught me how to use the http://www.corpus.leeds.ac.uk for build to my corpus. Also, teacher suggested me for ANTCONC. Then, she taught me to copy the information and paste it into notepad. I found the information that I interested in and saved my information on my computer. Then, I put some word in antconc program . It would showed me how many words in this Program. Finally, I could to find around 50,000 words to make my corpus.

Learning Log 4

This week, I learned about Corpus Linguistics by Dr. Kriangkrai Vathanalaoha. Corpus was a collection of words and it was a theory and methadology of language. I knew that corpus was created since 19th - early 20th century.  I knew the types of corpera. There were seven types.  
1. Special Corpus
2. General Corpus British English.
3. Mutilingual Corpus
4. Parallel Corpus
5. Learner Corpus
6. Historical or Diachronic Corpus
7. Monitor Corpus 
Besides, I knew processes in Corpus Linguistics. For example Frequencies,it means how many words in focus are there in the Corpus. Concordances, how does the word appear in contest. Collocation, the kind of words usually appear with "wash". I also learned the studying of Corpus Linguistics from BNC web. I could to use corpus by searching some word and phrase such as broad daylight or swanning aroun. Finally, I think the corpus is a good for teachers or students because they could use to collect the information to apply  studying or teaching.

This week, I learned outside the class that is seminar in my major. I learned about "Linguistics and Language Teaching" by Miss. Budsaba Kanoksilapatham from Silpakorn University. First, She taught about teaching methods pedagogy and linguistic competence. Next, I learned phonetics and phonology. She taught me how to pronounce the letter “h”, consonant sounds (think, thank, them, the) and vowel sounds (guess, said, bread, friend, full-fool, back-bag). Then, I learned to stress vocabulary such as ceremony, atom, sofa, occur, comfortable etc. Also, I learned about Collocations (economic crisis, red rose, black and white) Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, and Lexical Semantics, which was American English and British English. For example, apartment, eraser, pants are American English but flat, rubber, trousers are British English. Besides, I learned about discourse that was written vs spoken language in English, I also learned about corpus linguistics. I joined the seminar about Applying Linguistics for Teaching. I learned many important things in Linguistics and it could to develop my English skills and prepared me to be a good teacher in the future.

In this week, I learned about how to add a widget to blogger. I learned to add clock, calendar, counter and video in gadgets on my blog. I also added the educational video that have benefits to speaking and reading skill. After that the teacher taught me how to link friends from my blog. I learned how create a QR code to use in my blog. Finally, I learned to making text, saving work, and sharing them to the public.

WBI = (Web-Based Instruction)
 is teaching and learning supported by the attributes and resources of the Internet.

MUD = (Multiple User Dialogue)
is a multiplayer real-time virtual world, usually text-based. MUDs combine elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, player versus player, interactive fiction, and online chat.

MOO = (Multiple Domain Object Oriented) 
is a text-based online virtual reality system to which multiple users (players) are connected at the same time.

This week, I have learned to method to create blog from www.blogger.com. The first, I login www.blogger.com with my G-mail. Next, I started to create my blog.
